The Health Workforce Information Programme (HWIP) requires an Analyst/Report writer for a fixed term full time role in the Workforce Projections Project.
The purpose of HWIP is to provide high quality health workforce information and analysis to support workforce management, planning and development for the 21 District Health Boards.
The Workforce Analyst/Report Writer is pivotal to achieving the vision and goals of the Health Workforce Projections Project. The role supports the Project Manager (Projections Project) to deliver the outputs outlined in the Service Agreement with the Clinical Training Agency to provide health workforce projections to 2026.
The objectives of the Workforce Projections Project are:
1. To produce health workforce projections based on differing scenarios to inform workforce planning and training decisions.
2. To improve the quality of health workforce information within the Ministry and the health and disability sector.
3. To improve the capability of the health and disability sector to undertake workforce planning.
The successful candidate will:
Produce analysis and reports to highlight existing and emerging workforce issues
• Provide input into the development of forecasting models
• Produce modelling and forecasting outputs as required
• Work with other DHBNZ Analysts to develop and maintain a network of DHB (and other organisations’) analysts to support the delivery of workforce forecasting models to the Clinical Training Agency.
• Take a team role in the Health Workforce Projections Project following proper project management structure
• Construct templates for the collection of a range of data requests
• Produce labour market analysis and a set of national DHB workforce forecasting reports
PERSON SPECIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Essential Qualities
• Experience in applied data analysis using computer languages SAS and SQL (or a willingness to learn)
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent report writing skills with the ability to ‘translate’ technical content to a wide and diverse audience
• Demonstrated experience in contributing to the development of an effective team
• Demonstrated self-motivation to expand their own knowledge and undertake learning to improve their understanding of new or complicated areas of analysis or concepts
• Demonstrated strong client focus
• Ability to deliver high quality work by specified deadlines
Desirable Qualities
• Demonstrated knowledge of economic analysis, forecasting and knowledge of policy development, government structures and processes.
