The health workforce is the sector's largest resource and accounts for approximately 70% of public health and disability expenditure per year ($6.8 billion). In the past, the information needed to effectively manage and plan the workforce at a national level did not exist.
The Health Workforce Information Programme is a strategic framework that will deliver a health workforce information system to enable a central point for:
