Vision Statement

" HWIP is the central, authoritative source of high quality health and disability sector workforce information and analysis."

The health workforce is the sector's largest resource and accounts for approximately 70% of public health and disability expenditure per year ($6.8 billion).  In the past, the information needed to effectively manage and plan the workforce at a national level did not exist.

The Health Workforce Information Programme is a strategic framework that will deliver a health workforce information system to enable a central point for:

• The collection of health workforce data throughout the health sector
• Comprehensive analysis, modelling and forecasting of that workforce data that will produce key information for health workforce management and planning.

HWIP will achieve this through a collaborative, organised effort so that the health and disability sector as a whole can profile itself and plan for its future workforce needs.
