HWIP activity and outputs support the sector with the Future Workforce vision and deliverables. Future Workforce is a strategic plan to focus collective priorities and actions for workforce development over a five-year period. Future Workforce explores future service delivery models and demand to determine the workforce required to deliver to the population’s need.
Six Workforce Strategy Groups are aligned to occupational professional groups that have been established to assist with achieving Future Workforce outputs and objectives. The workforce strategy groups are:
Each Workforce Strategy Group will need workforce information to underpin their work. Groups will consider their workforce needs in relation to three work streams:
HWIP supports Future Workforce by providing credible and timely information, analysis and modeling on which the six Workforce Strategy Groups can base decisions, track progress and monitor outcomes.
HWIP activity and outputs can be categorized into three main tiers: Base Information, Specific Information and Decision Support. Each tier in turn supports Future Workforce three key areas of Workforce Environment, Key Workforces and Models of Care. Ultimately, while specific information requests will be driven through the six Workforce Strategy Group professions, HWIP outputs aim to support the development of a workforce responsive to emerging models of care.
