The programme combines leadership and management development, personal development, and organisation development. The programme supports participants to develop leadership and core management competencies within a primary health context. Participants have a say in what is included, with all content having a primary health care flavour and involving current experts in the field.
The programme is designed for people with an advisory or leadership role, board members or those with a good deal of experience who are looking to invigorate their leadership skills and build networks. The programme addresses governance, leadership, and advisory function more than day-to-day management responsibility.
The programme provides participants with the latest thinking and opportunities to develop governance, leadership, and management skills. It provides a forum for participants to share experience and exchange ideas about the challenges of the roles in primary health including establishing new organisations and ways of working.
As well as the emphasis on leadership, there is also a focus on understanding how health systems work. Participants of the programme will explore how health systems are designed, resourced, staffed, managed, and influenced.
The programme is structured in three parts – a three-day workshop, five months of application on-the-job, and a further three-day workshop. Participants are expected to share their learning with colleagues as part of the primary health development process
