National framework for Pharmacist Services
It is envisaged that this framework, it’s accompanying service specifications, reporting mechanisms and the complementary tool kit will be reviewed at least every two years, with the first review due for completion by March 2009, unless needed prior to that date.
In contrast with dispensing services, it is not compulsory for a DHB to fund the new services in this framework; local need and funding priorities will be fundamental to determining what will be funded in a given area. The new pharmacist services are optional variances available to DHBs for targeted populations within individual DHB funding capabilities.
