The PHO Performance Programme (the Programme) is a quality improvement programme which aims to support improvements in the health of enrolled populations and reduce inequalities through supportive clinical governance and continuous quality improvement processes with PHOs and their contracted providers.
PHOs and their contracted providers, as well as the professional groups that support them, acknowledge the importance of quality. Participants commit to this quality improvement programme to improve their performance, in the interest of their population’s health outcomes and addressing inequalities. Participants may also be committed to other quality improvement programmes and the development of quality frameworks and quality indicators by their professions.
Performance with respect to membership of the Programme is measured via an agreed indicator set that is selected through a robust process and is focused on achieving desired health outcomes. This indicator set may draw upon indicators from other quality improvement programmes where that is appropriately agreed by stakeholders working through the Programme’s engagement and decision making processes.
